We Invite people to know Jesus Christ
so that we may all share God’s love.
so that we may all share God’s love.
WORSHIPWorship is at the heart of our identity. When we gather as a community in worship, God comes to us in many ways: in scripture, God inspires our hearts to respond to grace by loving our neighbor; at the Table, we taste and see the wonders of Christ's sacrifice and our promised life in God; in song, our voices rise in thanksgiving for and commitment
to our shared mission; and in our confession, we honestly proclaim our need for God and God's forgiveness. |
EDUCATIONWe are constantly learning and growing together. The Lutheran Church of Mahomet is a community who values life-long learning and the spiritual growth which accompanies that learning. There are learning opportunities all
around us, whether we find ourselves in one of our many classroom programs, hearing guest speakers share stories, reading newsletters, or participating in national webcasts with other churches. |
SERVICEOur worship and learning mean nothing without action. Overflowing with God's freely given Grace, we respond in love for our neighbor. We are challenged to
embody the ELCA's slogan: "God's Work, Our Hands." As Christ first emptied himself for our sake and became human, we too are called to feel the pain and need of our neighbors. We seek to respond to our neighbor's needs as Jesus Christ ministers in the Gospels. |

Confirmation is our three-year program designed for junior high youth (6th-8th Grade) and meets on Wednesday nights during the programming year. In these sessions, we learn about the Hebrew Scriptures, New Testament, Lutheran Theology, and Christian Tradition. We explore various ways to live out our faiths, including service to our neighbor, conversation with friends of other faiths/denominations, biblical study, art, and critical thinking.
|
Our high school youth group is called AGAPE—which means "unconditional love"—and meets on Wednesday nights. This group has great fun sharing meals, exploring the bible, engaging in service, having conversations about how faith meets lived experience, and even take trips.Inspired by the love of God and the sacrifice of Christ, we seek to empower each other for ministry in a broken world.

Small Groups
We have a number of small groups at the Lutheran Church of Mahomet. Some of these groups organize around meals and fellowship, others organize around biblical study and faith-filled conversation.
If you would like more information about what small groups convene regularly, please contact the office—we would be happy to connect you with our small groups! And, if you have an idea for a small group that doesn't exist, let us know because we can help you get one started!

Reformation |
2017 marks the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. As we celebrate Martin Luther's work and that of his colleagues and family, we are organizing various opportunities for learning more about the movement. Trivia and fun facts will appear in various places, conversations about theology will take place, movie viewings will be organized, writings will be shared, and more! Please, keep an eye out for the exciting ways in which we can remind ourselves of the reformation begun 500 years ago which continues still.

Earth Sunday |
The Lutheran Church of Mahomet, and all of the ELCA, is committed to caring for God's bountiful creation. As keepers of its resources and security, we enjoy God's creation with wonder and gratitude, in awe of the variety and growth around us. We also confess our participation in this world's damage. But, our hope in God and the Holy Spirit's ability to work through the people of this Earth energizes us. Join us and our green team so that we can be intentional about caring for God's creation!
|
God's Work, Our Hands |
Every year, our national body (the ELCA) organizes a day in which its congregations engage in community service together, known as "God's Work, Our Hands" Sunday. Service to our neighbor is an integral part of our faith and discipleship, and our faith cannot survive without caring for others. While the ELCA organizes this Sunday event every year, you will find many other service opportunities at the Lutheran Church of Mahomet throughout the year. We seek to truly embody Christ's body in this work.

The Lutheran Church of Mahomet is committed to supporting non-profit organizations who care for the neighbor, both locally and abroad. Our Social Ministry Committee designates various benevolence dollars to organizations in our local Champaign County communities, which serve those in need. Not only this, but we also support international ministries like Lutheran World Relief and our sister congregations in Belarus.
|
We are privileged to minister with churches in Smilovichi and Chervin, Belarus. Our congregations benefit from mutual ministries of prayer and support, and LCM is enriched by this relationship. We are reminded that God's love knows no barriers in distance or culture as we remain vitally attached to our sisters and brothers in Belarus. Together, we proclaim a risen Christ and serve our neighbors!
